Laurie Callaway is a Garden Designer practicing in Palo Alto and the Bay Area. As a child, she first gained her love of gardening after reading 'The Secret Garden' by Francis Hodgson Burnett. Later while working in high-tech for such companies as Amdahl, Sun and Intel she had many opportunities to travel to England and fell in love with the English gardens and countryside and dreamed of designing gardens herself someday.

While working full time, she began the Garden Design program at UC Berkeley Extension and graduated in 1996 with a Certificate in Garden Design. She began her practice in 1998 and specializes in four season gardens; a garden that has leaf and flowering interest throughout the year. She also enjoys designing perennial borders and rose gardens. Laurie is currently an instructor in the UC Berkeley Extension program and teaches 'Growing a Landscaping Business' in the Fall and 'Paths and Patios' in the Spring.

Laurie has been featured in Sunset Magazine's Low-Maintenance Gardening and regularly contributes her talents to HGTV's television program, Curb Appeal. She is also a Certified member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD).

Laurie conducts a tour of English gardens every June. The tour visits 11 gardens in Kent and the Cotswolds including Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Hidcote Manor and Kiftsgate. The final two days of the tour are spent sightseeing in London. For a complete itinerary of the tour please visit www.callawaygardentours.com
